NZ Pain Society Foundations Day
Foundations Day workshops are a feature of NZ Pain Society Annual Scientific Meetings. They offer you an opportunity to update your essential knowledge about pain and pain management, while also connecting with colleagues from around the country.
In 2023 we focus on developing knowledge and skills for community-based pain services with a special eye on how we work together in interprofessional teams.
This workshop will offer you an experiential learning opportunity where you’ll work together with other clinicians, share your existing knowledge and learn from experienced clinicians. You’ll be introduced to, and use, innovative processes for assessing and integrating information from different professional perspectives. You’ll develop greater understanding of how each profession contributes to pain management and rehabilitation, and be topped up with new information to keep you up-to-date with person-centred pain practice in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
9.00am-9.30am Curiosity, Dr Bronwyn Thompson, University of Otago, Christchurch
9.30am -10.30am Fundamentals of Pain Neurobiology - Associate Prof Gwyn Lewis
